Still not feeling much better today, so I thought I'd just note a couple of LGBT milestones that have already been reached in this new year.
First, Portland, Oregon is now the largest city in the United States with an openly gay mayor. Mayor Sam Adams was sworn in yesterday after being elected last May.
Shifting to a different continent, South Africa now has an openly gay Justice on their highest court, the Constitutional Court. This makes him the very first openly gay person ever appointed to the highest court of any country of the world. Not only is Justice Edwin Cameron openly gay, he was also the first Judge in the country to come out as HIV-positive.
Let's hope these are just the first of many steps forward this year!
