Wait, What Just Happened?!

I've been telling myself for weeks that if Adam Lambert was for some reason voted out of American Idol, it wouldn't really matter. After all, he's impressed enough people by this point that I don't really think he needs to win this show to have a career in the music business.

So, I told myself that if it happened, I would be disappointed not to have his weekly performances to look forward to, but it wouldn't really matter that much when you got right down to it.

Apparently, I'm a total liar, because it does matter to me more than I thought it would. I was a total mess watching tonight's show after they put Adam in the bottom three with Kris and Matt!

Luckily, Adam was not voted off this week, but for some inexplicable reason he was in the bottom two after having been completely safe every week leading up to this one.

He gave a really great performance last night (which, really, turned out to be more Classic Standards night than the nominal Rat Pack week) of the song Feeling Good. It was a very sultry, snarly, sexy performance, pure Adam Lambert, which gave a nod in the direction of the Rat Pack's Vegas prime with a hot strut down a staircase.
It was a good night for Adam, he looked and sounded great, he gave a real performance instead of just standing there doing karaoke like some other contestants do, the audience went crazy for him, and the judges all liked it.

So, I have to surmise that him being in the bottom two tonight was more about his fans becoming complacent and assuming he didn't need their votes to move on each week.

Clearly, though, he does! There are only a few weeks left, but I don't want to be deprived of watching Adam perform on a single one of the remaining shows. I've read a lot about how he'd have more freedom as an artist if he lost than he would if he actually won the show and was tied to the contract the winner gets, so I'd be fine with him coming in second (even though he clearly deserves first place). It would be completely ridiculous for the best person in the competition to be voted out before the final show of the season, though.

So, in conclusion, if you're a fan of Adam's, don't be complacent! Vote Adam and vote often!!
