Gay Marriage in Iowa!

If you haven't seen the news, Iowa's Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in that state today! This makes it the third current state that allows gay marriage and the first state to do so that isn't on the East or West coast.

LGBT Iowans can start getting marriage licenses on April 24th. How exciting is that? Step by step, equality is being won across the country. It isn't happening overnight, and there will no doubt be more setbacks before we've got universal marriage equality throughout the entire nation, but we're on our way!

It will one day seem shocking and downright odd to Americans that LGBT people were once not allowed to marry, just at it seems that way now in regard to mixed race marriages. It's frustrating that the bigots and the extremists can't see that they're on the wrong side of history now and save us all the trouble. Then again, it's the fight for equality that makes these victories that much more meaningful.
