Several of the cast members of Glee have autographed books to be auctioned off in support of 826LA, a non-profit center in California that runs youth writing and tutoring programs.

Van's True Colors
This month's edition of the True Colors Cabaret concert took place last night and was hosted by Van Hansis. It featured two Glee stars, Lea Michele and the openly gay Jonathan Groff (or maybe I should say one current and one future Glee star, since Groff hasn't debuted on the show yet).
Seeing Van standing next to Lea in that picture makes me want very badly to see him join Glee! Let's not forget that he has a history with Mr. Schuster himself, too, since Matthew Morrison did a month long stint on As the World Turns a few years back. 
Van has done a musical, last year's Dance Dance Revolution, but I seem to remember him saying at the time that he's not really a singer. Not every character on Glee sings, though, at least not so far. Quick, someone talk to Ryan Murphy about Van!
As I noted last month, this ongoing series of monthly concerts benefits both the True Colors Fund and Broadway Impact. There isn't much I wouldn't have given to be there last night! If anyone was lucky enough to attend, please share the details.

True Colors Cabaret
If you're lucky enough to live in or near NYC, please allow me to live vicariously through you and attend the True Colors Cabaret series. When I read about things like this, it's all I can do not to just get on a plane and go, expense be damned!
Cyndi Lauper hosted the October 26th show, which featured one of my favorite Broadway men, Gavin Creel. Another one of my very favorite men in entertainment, As the World Turns' Van Hansis, will be hosting the next show, on November 29th, and that show will feature Glee and Spring Awakening co-stars Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff, as well as Rufus Wainright! Jason Mraz will be performing in the December edition of the show.
Several of the names I've just typed are people that I would LOVE to see perform live, or even just host the show like Van and Cyndi. If you're lucky enough to go, please share the details and let me be sick with envy!
The best part is that 100% of the proceeds from the shows go to support LGBT Equality through the True Colors Fund and Broadway Impact. It doesn't get much better than that. Why must I live on the opposite side of the country?!

A Few Things
Sorry for the lack of action here this week, I just haven't been feeling all that well. If you're wondering, I'm still several weeks behind on Nuke and Kish and trying to develop a game plan so that I can catch up both on watching and on blogging about them. I'm really, really missing Kish and the rest of OLTL, but being so far behind is rather daunting!
Just a few things I wanted to highlight today: first of all, Glee was fantastic again this past week. Jane Lynch is now officially a goddess of comedy as far as I'm concerned. If you haven't heard, the cast was supposed to perform at the Macy's Thanksgiving parade, but NBC banned them! Boo! I get that NBC wouldn't want to promote another network's break out hit show, but the ratings for their parade would probably be higher if the Glee cast was there.
The cast will be singing the National Anthem during a World Series game, though.
In news unrelated to Glee for a change, I was just reading that Randy Harrison, who played Justin on Queer as Folk, will be onstage this winter as Andy Warhol in a new musical called POP! at the Yale Repertory Theater.
I really wish I could see Randy onstage. I saw a very badly shot YouTube clip of him performing on Broadway in Wicked a few years back, but that's as close as I've been able to get to seeing him perform live. As bad as the quality of the clip was, it sounded like Randy has a great voice. He looks great in the picture included with the article, less like the adorable blond twink he was during QAF and more like... well, more like a hot guy in his 30's, which is what he is!
By the way, the Matthew Shepard Foundation is auctioning off signed teddy bears. Lots of cool people have signed them, including Jane Lynch, Stephen Sondheim, Dustin Lance Black, and Queer as Folk's Sharon Gless. It's for a good cause, so check it out and see if anyone you're a fan of has signed one.

Broadway Flea Market
I apologize for the lack of blogging over the weekend. I intended to write about last week's Kish and Nuke episodes, but I ended up going away for the weekend at the last minute. It was a lot of fun, but now I'm behind on my soaps once again. I'm hoping to get caught up on them over the next few days, both in watching and in blogging.
I meant to mention this before the fact, but Van Hansis and other stars of As the World Turns attended the Broadway Flea Market yesterday, an annual event which benefits Brodway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
An event filled with stars of Broadway and the soaps, and all for a great cause! That's the sort of thing I would be all over if I lived anywhere near NYC. This year, they raised an incredible $403,929 for the cause.
One of these days I'm going to quit just wishing I lived in/near NYC and actually make it a reality.

Project Holiday Spirit; Another Senator Kennedy?
Just a few quick things tonight.
First, Project Holiday Spirit has already raised over $2,300 since Monday for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This is the campaign by fans of Van Hansis & Jake Silbermann (a.k.a Luke & Noah on As the World Turns) to donate in honor of them during the Holiday season. Click the link if you'd like to donate as well.
Also, I wrote the other day that Caroline Kennedy's name was being mentioned for Hillary Clinton's Senate seat in New York. Just because she was being spoken of for the position didn't mean that she'd actually want it, of course. Today I read that Caroline is indeed interested in taking over Senator Clinton's seat and I have to admit that I really like the idea, if for no other reason than that I've always really admired Caroline Kennedy.
I should also note that the National Organization for Women has endorsed Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney for the seat and that there are several other women in the Congressional delegation who would be strong choices as well. As I've said, I really hope that the Governor of New York ends up choosing a woman to replace Clinton.
